Terms
These are the terms for Mutual Friend, run by Alternate Club LLP, registered in India ("we"). By using mymutualfriend.com or talking to your mutual friend on WhatsApp, you agree to them. They're short. Please read them.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or over. One account per person, under your real name and real identity. You confirm you're not on a sex-offender registry and haven't been convicted of a violent or sexual crime. If we've removed you before, you can't come back under another name.
What Mutual Friend is
A personal AI that gets to know you and, with your permission, introduces you to other members for what matters to you. It's early days. The service is free for now and will change as we build it. If we add paid features later, we'll tell you first and never charge you without asking.
Introductions
An introduction happens only when both people say yes. We share a short reason and the details you approve, and nothing more. We don't verify who people are, we don't run background checks, and we can't guarantee anyone's identity, intentions or safety. You're responsible for your own interactions with other members, on and off Mutual Friend. Use your judgement: meet in public, tell a friend where you're going, and trust your instincts. What happens between you and someone you meet is between the two of you. Introductions are possibilities, not guarantees.
How to behave
- Be honest about who you are.
- Be respectful. No harassment, threats, hate, or sexual content nobody asked for.
- Don't ask anyone for money. Don't use Mutual Friend to sell, recruit, promote, or collect people's details. No sex work.
- No scraping, bots, or automated access. Don't try to get around our safety measures.
If you break these, or if we learn you've harmed someone you met through Mutual Friend, on or off the service, we can remove you, with or without notice.
Your words
What you tell your mutual friend is yours. We don't claim any ownership of it. You agree we may use it to provide, maintain and improve Mutual Friend, and to share what you approve with the person we introduce you to. That permission ends when you delete your account, except for what the law requires us to keep. We don't train AI models on it unless you've explicitly said we can, and we never use it in advertising. Our Privacy page has the details.
Messages
By giving us your number, you agree that we may message you on WhatsApp, with SMS as a fallback, about your account and your introductions. Reply STOP any time and we stop. We may ask you to verify your number. Your carrier's charges may apply. WhatsApp is run by Meta, and Meta's own terms apply to the WhatsApp service itself.
It's an AI
Your mutual friend is an AI. It can be wrong, incomplete, or off. It isn't a therapist, a doctor, or a lawyer. Introductions are suggestions, and you decide.
Leaving
Leave any time by saying "delete me" in the chat. We can suspend or end your account if you break these terms, or if we shut the service down. We'll do our best to tell you first.
The legal part
Mutual Friend is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows: we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the conduct of other members on or off the service; and our total liability to you is capped at the greater of $100 or what you've paid us in the 6 months before the claim. Nothing here limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything the law says can't be limited.
You agree to cover us against claims from third parties caused by your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.
Disputes
If we have a dispute, email us first and we'll talk within 30 days. If that fails, it's settled by one arbitrator under India's Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Haryana, India, in English. Claims are individual only, no class actions. You can opt out of arbitration by emailing us within 30 days of first using Mutual Friend. Small claims court stays open to both of us, and your consumer rights where you live are unaffected.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts in Haryana, India have jurisdiction over anything that isn't arbitrated.
Changes
We'll update these terms as the product changes, and update the date at the top. For anything material we'll message you 14 days before it takes effect. Using Mutual Friend after that means you accept the change.
